Diesel is increasing offerings of responsible products under the company’s “ForResponsible Living” Sustainability Strategy. Diesel’s “For ResponsibleLiving” strategy, launched in January of this year, is a commitment totaking action for the benefit of current and future generations. Thestrategy is based on four key pillars and commitments named: Be TheAlternative, Stand For The Planet, Celebrate Individuality and PromoteIntegrity. It is a dedicated and comprehensive blueprint, which willfurther integrate sustainability-focused initiatives across all thecompany’s business activities.
Starting with Diesel’s denim for spring/summer 2020, the brand hasintroduced a handful of new denim styles developed in line with its recentcommitment to a future focused on sustainability, one that is morerespectful of the environment but still always strong on the brand’s DNA. Forthe fall/winter 2020 collection, the “Respectful Denim with Diesel DNA”,five denim styles are featured produced with Diesel’s high-levelenvironmental standards embedded in the Green Label, featuring classicPremium Diesel silhouettes in vintage washes, some with laser-etchedscratches and abrasions. These garments have been created using innovativetechniques that significantly reduce the use of water and chemicals duringthe production process. Every pair is treated with a minimal amount ofGreenScreen certified chemicals, and the water used is reduced by up to 40percent compared to conventional methods.
More responsible practices have been applied to additional productcategories, including short and long-sleeved t-shirts, sweatshirts andhoodies. Made from a hybrid textile of organic cotton and recycledpolyester, the recycled fibers come from post-and pre-consumer waste, suchas used plastic bottles and factory waste.
Diesel has also introduced Western flannel shirts made of entirely organiccotton that's grown without the use of synthetic chemicals or geneticallymodified seeds. The collection also includes two double-breasted menswearcoats, one short and one long, which have been made with 75 percentrecycled wool and features notch lapels and zipped cuffs. The feltedwool-blend fabric has been sourced from the Italian district of Prato, renowned for its regenerated textiles.
All garments delivered under Diesel’s “For Responsible Living”Sustainability Strategy will feature a specialized Green Label, thatidentifies those products which respect specific standards in relation tothe material and treatment used.
